Hello! Nice to meet you!

I am starting this blog with a hearty kick in the pants from the “Exploring the MathTwitterBlogosphere” project, which you can read more about here: http://exploremtbos.wordpress.com/

I teach in a public school for immigrants who are learning English.  Some things I believe in and think a lot about and might write about here:

  • public schools and the Common Core
  • heterogeneous classrooms and complex instruction
  • teaching English while teaching math
  • positive classroom culture

I also have a twitter account: @waddletalk , which I hope to figure out how to use better at some point.  Right now twitter doesn’t make any sense to me at all.  Feel free to enlighten me about it!

Sounds like you have many challenges, but a good attitude. Welcome to the blogging world. I am new as well so it looks like we are in for an interesting experience.

Congrats – new blog and first post accomplished!!
So many issues in education and so many people discussing them. I think we just ventured into a big world that will take quite a while to understand.
Like you I’m interested in public education and CCSSM. I’m usually on the wrong side of the heterogeneous vs homogeneous discussion so I’m hoping to hear more about it.
Enjoy your time in the Blogosphere and have a great year!

  3. Hooray for hearty kicks in the pants!

whereabouts are you teaching? I’m from California. I’m a newbie myself, to this blogging and twittering but also, more importantly, to teaching.

I’m not a fan of common sense, so I’m typing a comment on your blog 5 hours before my alarm sounds tomorrow instead of planning out what I’m going to be doing in class tomorrow. Time for a course adjustment! Looking forward to hearing your ideas moving forward!
